Beethoven

Mixed Breed · Male

Our milwaukeean "almost bernardin" bears the name Beethoven – how else could it be. For us, it’s simply Becio. Our little guy sometimes more resembles a porcelain elephant than a lazy, overweight bernardin. He’s not overly affectionate when it comes to showing feelings – though maybe that’s good, as it makes it easier for him to stay on his feet 😃 But we’re teaching him to enjoy gentle, human touches and caresses, which he hasn’t experienced much before. Becio needs a bit of time to get used to new acquaintances. Fortunately, he’s a glutton and a treat can quickly win him over. He allows familiar friends to give him a bit more, but to strangers, he keeps a distance. Walking with Becio is no small challenge; our little sprout sometimes forgets that there’s a person at the end of the leash. We’re announcing to everyone! Becio is ready to take a new path, so we’re looking for a caregiver who, just as we care, will ensure that this beautiful dog regains his faith in people and provides him with the care and safety he deserves. The property where he would reside must have solid fencing; Becio would easily overcome the small mesh and end up back on the street. We encourage you to get to know our giant better and to take a walk or a training session in the woods with us.

About Beethoven

What life with Beethoven looks like

Beethoven is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Beethoven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Beethoven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Beethoven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Beethoven if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Beethoven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Beethoven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Beethoven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
