Bekka

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Bekka is a 2020-born, spayed mixed breed dog who was seized by her owner due to neglect and lack of care. She came to the shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. She is a very friendly and outgoing dog lady who always seems to smile. Her cheerful nature is infectious and she is an extremely loyal soul who bonds closely with her caregivers. She will enjoy interesting walks in nature, but also training sessions or cuddle times. Bekka will certainly quickly understand the daily routines in her new home, as she is a smart girl. She would be a wonderful family dog and would definitely be a good friend to older children. Unfortunately, she tested positive for heartworms and is being treated with tablets and spot-on drops at the shelter. The chances of complete healing are good with continued treatment. "Information on heartworm treatment Please indicate "Bekka" as the purpose of use. In general, Bekka gets along with all her peers and likes to play with them, although sympathy decides with some females. Therefore, we recommend her as a second dog to a male. Her behavior towards cats is not known.

HU·Show original

About Bekka

What life with Bekka looks like

Bekka is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bekka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bekka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bekka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bekka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bekka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bekka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bekka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
