Bella

Mastiff · Female · Senior · 9 years

Bella is a shy Pomeranian Cross who is searching for a calm and understanding home where she can enjoy life at her own pace. She is based at Battersea Old Windsor. Bella can be a little nervous when faced with new situations and unfamiliar people, but with a gentle approach and a little patience she soon begins to relax and show her affectionate side. Once she gets to know you, Bella enjoys fuss and will keep coming back to you for more. She is looking for a quiet home with access to her own private and secure garden, where she can feel safe and explore comfortably. She can sometimes find going on walks worrying so it may take her some time to build her confidence and want to go out for walks. Bella can be social with some dogs when out and about, but she generally prefers having her own space and would be happiest as the only dog in the home. New owners will need to speak to a Battersea vet prior to rehoming Bella. Bella will make an adorable companion for a home looking for a calm, easy going dog who needs a little support with day to day life. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Bella, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Bella

What life with Bella looks like

Bella is a small senior mastiff dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
