Bello

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Baby Bello is our little miracle. "We found him and actually wanted to keep him. He's been vomiting all the time and is extremely weak" is how the little stuffed animal came to us. The goal? To somehow keep him alive. The first weeks were marked by vet visits, feeding him and hanging in there with a lot of hope from day to day. And now we're actually at the point where Baby Bello is ready to go on his way with his own family. Baby Bello was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease. Although the therapy is working well and Baby Bello responds well to the medication and is now a really fit young dog, it is uncertain whether he will recover or if he will need medication permanently. His new people must be willing to continue to take blood tests regularly and possibly have him on medication permanently. The latest blood results show a very good course, but we cannot predict how Bello's health will develop. Otherwise, Baby Bello is a cheerful, lively, friendly young dog. He is very loving towards people and dogs and is more reserved and uncertain than bold. In general, he has a very thoughtful, calm character. It is possible that he has herding dog genes, which means that he may not be as open to strangers as an adult and needs people who have at least dealt with the dog type. Otherwise, Bello loves food and would do anything for cookies. He is affectionate, likes to be out and about and loves to cuddle and play with his people. For Bello, we wish for a home where he can be outdoors a lot and has the opportunity to live very closely with his people. Apart from that, we see him in many life realities, he still has a lot to learn, but he is really adaptable and smart. Where are the people who are open to continuing to responsibly take the health path with Bello and show him the world as a world full of adventure and fun? Do you think you are the right person for Bello or would you like to get to know him better? Then get in touch with us.

About Bello

What life with Bello looks like

Bello is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bello, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bello?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bello on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bello if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bello already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bello isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bello and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
