BEN

Labrador Retriever · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Ben is waiting at his foster home in 48734 Reken (NRW) for his own family. He is a beautiful young male with very special eyes and a charming gaze. We met him as a puppy in the shelter in August. At that time, he was playful, relaxed, and very sociable with his fellow dogs. Ben is now living at a foster home and needs time to adjust to his new world. He is currently finding it harder to settle in. He is very cautious, reserved, and needs time to gain trust. That's why we are looking for particularly empathetic people who can approach him with calmness, patience, and understanding, and give him the time he needs. We are convinced that Ben has the potential to be a wonderful companion. He just needs people who can look beyond his initial uncertainty and show him how beautiful a dog's life can be in a loving home. Who will give Ben the chance to find his happiness and give him the time to settle in at his own pace? Where are his soulmates who can finally show him what it means to truly belong? His foster carer Christin is looking forward to your inquiry via WhatsApp at 07 or by email at christin.org. You can apply directly via our self-disclosure form, which you can find here: www.seelentiere.org/vermittlung/selbstauskunft (copy the link and paste it in a new window). Ben is fully vaccinated, dewormed, and chipped with an EU pet passport after a positive pre-check, and is available for adoption with a deposit of €500.00. Ben will not be placed in a kennel or outdoor enclosure.

About BEN

What life with BEN looks like

BEN is a medium-sized puppy labrador retriever dog waiting at Seelentiere e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting BEN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BEN?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelentiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BEN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BEN if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelentiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BEN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BEN isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelentiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know BEN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
