Adopt Benny

Mixed Breed · Male

Members of the public were aware of a young cat straying in Cleethorpes. They were concerned because the cat had a severe wound on and around its tale. The cat was in a state of great distress and pain. It had been chewing the tail to try to stop the hurting! Nelar took the cat to the vet and it was necessary for the tail to be amputated. As a stray male cat it was not surprising to find he had other wounds. Benny was put in to the care of a Nelar volunteer fosterer and it very quickly became obvious that he was not used to being indoors but he eventually got used to the idea of being warm and having plenty of food! Benny has developed into a fun-loving young boy (18mths) who loves his playtime. When playtime is finished he just wants a lap to sprawl across followed by a sleep. Benny would make a lovely companion for someone who is home most of the time. He needs to be in a quiet environment (no young children) where he will receive lots of attention and love. Benny has been neutered and is microchipped.

About Benny

What life with Benny looks like

Benny is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at North East Lincs Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. North East Lincs Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — North East Lincs Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with North East Lincs Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
