Betsy (Senior)

Mixed Breed · Female

Betsy arrived in our care after her human companion became unwell. It was a sad situation for all involved but Betsy has taken everything in her stride and has settled into the cattery very well. This older lady is incredibly loving! She will happily take fuss and cuddles from her human companions. Socialising is her favourite time of the day. She knows she will have a solid hour of non-stop attention. She would love a home where she can spend the day snoozing, eating, and having fuss before repeating the process. She does have a condition called Triaditis, which causes inflammation in the liver, pancreas, and small intestines. She is currently prescribed prednisolone to help, as well as a specialised gastrointestinal diet, and this seems to be working well. The average monthly cost of her food and medication is £52.

About Betsy (Senior)

What life with Betsy (Senior) looks like

Betsy (Senior) is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betsy (Senior), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betsy (Senior)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betsy (Senior) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betsy (Senior) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betsy (Senior) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betsy (Senior) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betsy (Senior) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
