Adopt Betty

Mixed Breed · Female

Compatible with other animals? Can be alone for some hours? The cheerful Betty was born in Dec. 2022 and is 2 and a half years old. She is 50 cm tall and is currently a bit overweight. Betty is very people-oriented and cuddly. The person means the world to her. She is also curious, lively, and simply adorable. She doesn't necessarily need other dogs to be happy, but she is definitely compatible with fellow animals and is not at all averse to playing if the chemistry is right 😊. However, she doesn't want to share her food. She was born in Romania from an animal shelter and was rescued from an animal shelter from a euthanasia station. She hasn't been exposed to much of the world so far and is now looking for wonderful dog-experienced people with time and patience who want to take her around the world and show her everything with patience. We are looking for people for Betty who take joy in providing her with a beautiful home for life. The mouse needs people who take her by the paws and show her everything needed for a happy dog life. Show her how beautiful walks are and what a fun it is to run over meadows. Of course, plenty of cuddling, playing, and frolicking must not be missing. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped with an EU vaccination passport, and dewormed. She will be rehomed with an adoption fee. As we want to bring her to her new home, we only want to place her within a radius of approximately 250 km. Existing children should already be older and dog-experienced. Who has a heart for our cuddly ball of fur Betty 😊 She is in foster care in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, near 19288 Ludwigslust.

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a large adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierschutz Celle in Celle.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Betty far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Celle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Celle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Celle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
