Biljana

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Biljana - a sensitive single princess with clear ideas. Biljana is looking for a home outside of her current situation, as living with the currently present dogs does not work for her. This experience was important because it has clearly shown what Biljana needs to feel comfortable. Biljana is a very people-oriented dog who visibly enjoys the closeness of her humans. She forms strong bonds with her caregivers, seeks orientation, and loves being part of daily life. She shows attentiveness, curiosity, and alertness - she carefully notices new situations and observes her surroundings very closely. She loves walks and outings, however, her existing prey drive should not be underestimated, especially outdoors. Biljana feels most comfortable as a single dog. She shows territorial tendencies and wants her humans all to herself. She is not inherently incompatible with other dogs; contact or even cohabitation can be possible with certain dogs. However, she is currently looking for a home where she can receive full attention. Her communication can sometimes be very direct, and it can happen that she quickly and sometimes without warning corrects others. Because there is still training needed, we are currently not placing Biljana with children, small animals, or cats (her mentioned prey drive is also decisive here). We wish for people who are not impressed by her uncertainties and enjoy working with her together. Biljana already knows how to wear a muzzle as an aid and is well accustomed to it. Biljana loves structure, clear rules, and reliable routines; a quiet, stable environment without much commotion is important for her. She is eager to learn, attentive, and likes to work with her humans - a great basis on which to build well. Biljana is a smart, sensitive dog with character, who clearly knows what she wants and needs the support of experienced people who can lead clearly and confidently for her further development. Whoever can give this to her will get a loyal, watchful, and very close companion - a dog who strongly bonds with her humans and cannot imagine anything better than going through thick and thin with them! If you are aware of what comes with adopting a shelter dog and have fallen in love with her, please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help.

About Biljana

What life with Biljana looks like

Biljana is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Biljana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Biljana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Biljana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Biljana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Biljana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Biljana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Biljana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
