Billy

Poodle · Male · Adult · 8 years

Billy is an 8-year-old miniature poodle. He came to us after his owner entered a nursing home. He is a bit shy when he doesn't know people, but once he trusts them, he becomes playful, affectionate, and very attached.‼️ Billy unfortunately has never had the opportunity to go outside before and so he would have accidents on pads. Today, he is finally beginning to enjoy going for walks outside. However, he still lacks experience and may react with fear in new situations, such as joggers, bicycles or other unusual stimuli. Like any dog, Billy will need to be walked several times a day in order to discover the real life of a dog, with enough activity, as he still has plenty of energy for his age—and not just in a garden. It will take time to socialize him, continue his training, and teach him to be housebroken.‼️ He lived exclusively with his owner; he has therefore never been used to living with children and does not get along with other dogs of the same species or with cats 🚫🐈🚫🐕 We are looking for a calm and attentive home for Billy, without children or other animals. A gentle and patient person ready to give him the time, attention, and love he needs 🏠 📞 Interested? Call us at 67 ❌ No messages, emails or social media – thank you for your understanding.

About Billy

What life with Billy looks like

Billy is a adult poodle dog waiting at SPA Valais in Uvrier.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Valais handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Valais will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Valais early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
