Blacky

Labrador Retriever · Male · Senior · 14 years

Hello, I am Blacky. I am a Labrador-mixed breed and a real cuddle bear—but please give me a little time before I open my heart. When I then close my heart to you, you will feel all my affection, my loyalty, and my soft side. I am already a bit older, but I am in top condition and enjoy my life. I especially love the walks with the volunteer staff—being out there, sniffing the world, really makes me happy. And my stuffed animals? I love them more than anything. I carry them around and take good care of them. At home, I wish for a quiet, loving place for my last years. I don't particularly like other dogs, and cats are not among my friends. Children are welcome to live in my new home, but they should be a bit older and understand that I need peace and respect once I arrive. I am looking for people who will give me security, accept me, and show me what a real home feels like. If you give me your place in your heart, I will be your faithful companion—friendly, gentle, and full of love.

About Blacky

What life with Blacky looks like

Blacky is a large senior labrador retriever dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
