Adopt Bobby

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

I am Bobby … a clever, active dog looking for a wonderful forever home where I can become the best companion. Would you like to learn more about me? I was secured for animal welfare reasons to protect me from violence, which of course has left some marks: At first, I am a bit skeptical of strangers. Once I build trust, however, I become clingy and cuddly. I am, however, currently still quite friendly – especially towards things that initially make me feel a bit uneasy. Staying alone is probably not reliable yet, which would need to be practiced over a long period with patience. I am super motivated by treats and love to learn new things – I am smart and have a desire for training. I do not want to be pressured; with calmness and clear signals, I make good progress. I am not friendly with other dogs here; a pre-existing very sovereign female dog could be tested – generally, I feel more comfortable as a single dog. Please plan several visits to the animal shelter so we can get to know each other in peace. I wish for … a home on the outskirts of town or in the countryside with people who are already somewhat experienced with dogs, bringing patience, structure, and love. Children and other pets should not live in the household. Shared training, head work, and beautiful walks fit me well – I am no couch potato, but want to be kept busy. With time, training, and reliability, I will develop into a wonderful companion. Would we perhaps go through life together in the future?

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
