Bobby

Male · Senior · 9 years

Gentle Giant with a Big Heart Seeks Dog-Experienced Home I am Bobby, a stately male dog with a sovereign gaze, a clever head, and a heart that longs for a firm place in life. I came into the animal shelter through an official inspection and have been waiting far too long for people who understand and can lead me. What sets me apart: I am friendly and open – I get along well with most people at first glance. I warm up to new contacts quickly and enjoy the attention of my trusted people. I am a true representative of my breed – calm, vigilant, loyal, and with a strong character. When it comes to other dogs, I usually react neutrally to friendly – some I like, but others I don’t, so you should read me well and lead me securely. I love being outside – a securely fenced yard would be my dream. What you still need to work on with me: I defend food and resources, which is part of my character – with some management during feeding, this is however not a problem in everyday life if you stick to a few clear rules. My animal caretakers will be happy to advise you on this. Other animals and children should not live in my new home, as that would be too stressful for me. I need a stable environment and people who can interpret my signals. Experience with large dogs should be present. What I am looking for: A home with dog-experienced people, ideally with herding dog enthusiasts whose hearts I will always make beat faster! A "own home" with a fenced garden where I can guard and where neighbors won’t complain if I sometimes make a noise. Due to my background, I do not want a home with children. I get along with other dogs partially – I warm up faster to female dogs than to male dogs. Compatibility with others as a second dog should be tested through a get-to-know-you period at the animal shelter. People who are not deterred by my small problem with food (which can be well managed) and recognize the "golden boy" I am! If you think we would be a good match, contact my animal caretakers at the Lassie House or fill out the request form below. I am looking forward to serious inquiries – after such a long time in the animal shelter, I finally want to know what having my own home means.

About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a large senior dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Resource guarding behavior, requires secure fenced yard, no other animals or children

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
