Bobik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Bobik has a whole reservoir of love for humans. How is it possible that after such a bitter past, he still loves people? Only he knows. Because Bobik once had something resembling a "home," but it was never a part of it. He was never a friend, never a family member. In his previous shelter life, he lived on a short chain that he never reached to the building where he could hide. He spent his days and nights like that… Then came the animal shelter, and he got stuck there too… Despite being a cheerful, incredibly social, and devoted dog, he has been waiting for a new home for over 3 years – more than 40 months, roughly 1000 days. And while he waits to be noticed, he fully takes advantage of the meager substitute of what he could have at home. Because although this is a sad devil, the animal shelter has changed his life significantly. It was here that he learned what walks are, and he could see more than just his backyard. Here, someone finally showed him affection, interest, and someone cared about his health. He loves walks and eagerly looks forward to them. Once the initial emotions of leaving the kennel fade away, Bobik can beautifully walk. He is not afraid of street traffic. In his interactions with other dogs, he can be different. He can pass by calmly, walk alongside another dog, but not every dog he meets becomes his best friend. Though he also has dog friends at the animal shelter who run together in the shelter yard with full agreement. If he were to live in a home where there is already a dog, an earlier introduction would be necessary. Bobik not only discovered the charm of walks but also car trips. We discovered that he is a fantastic travel companion in a car. Veterinary procedures, such as blood draws, are done with calmness. Bobik spent several weeks in a hotel recovering from a leg surgery. He was an exemplary guest. In his room, he maintained cleanliness, took care of his needs outside, and did not damage anything. He was not afraid of the vacuum cleaner and moved around the tiles without a problem. He willingly accompanied people in all their activities and greatly enjoyed their presence. He is also very social at the animal shelter. He likes to lie between people, listen to conversations. It’s not hard to imagine him at home with a family. Perhaps he would lie somewhere with a view of the kitchen, watching the household activity with joy. We cannot change the past or repair the harm done in the past. However, we strongly believe in Bobik – that somewhere there is a person who will appreciate this unique, curious dog. Who will give him a place in their heart and home. At the animal shelter, we can no longer improve Bobik’s life – that can only happen in a home. Bobi deserves so much that his long wait should be rewarded.

PL·Show original

Nietrudno go sobie wyobrazić w domu, z rodziną.

About Bobik

What life with Bobik looks like

Bobik is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
