Adopt Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund

German Shepherd · Male · Adult · 4 years

Boomer is VORVERMITTELT * Born: 01.10.2022, arrived at the animal shelter: 20.12.2023, male. The young black German Shepherd Boomer was tied to the animal shelter's entrance door one day in broad daylight. Here, social media were helpful for us to learn more about his origins. Boomer was born on 1.10.2022 and unfortunately landed in a very suboptimal home, from which loving animal people rescued and saved him. They also made sure he underwent surgery because he had entropium in both eyes. Entropium means a misplacement of the eyelid that is rolled inward. This causes a constant foreign body sensation and can lead to complications like inflammation because the eyelashes rub against the cornea. Therefore, an operative correction is usually necessary in most cases. Unfortunately, the first operation did not fully succeed, so we had to perform a second promising operation. His eye conditions and treatments have unfortunately led to the fact that he does not trust veterinarians as much as he should. Boomer is actually a cuddle bear, but he needs security and trust. Upon arrival, he did not like any other dogs, regardless of their gender. Therefore, his rescuers, with heavy hearts, decided to search for a new home for him.

About Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund

What life with Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund looks like

Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund is a adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn in Dingolfing.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boomer - Deutscher Schäferhund and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
