Boreum

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Boreum is a beautiful Jindo-Mix female dog with large, round eyes that shine like a full moon. Her life began anything but easy. WEACT received a tip about a female dog with scaly skin who was searching the streets for food to feed her puppies. When the team arrived on site, her puppies were already in the shelter, but Boreum herself was missing. Despite many difficult moments, WEACT never gave up on the search. After a total of 55 days, the rescue was finally successful – a small miracle and the beginning of a new life for Boreum. Due to her long life on the streets, the contact with people feels unfamiliar to Boreum. She is slowly getting used to touch and needs time to build trust. If approached calmly and patiently, and gently offered a hand, Boreum gradually begins to open her heart and accept the proximity of humans. With other dogs, Boreum is friendly and social. Although she hasn't had many dog contacts so far, she got along well with the dogs she met. New encounters should continue to be calm and accompanied. Boreum is currently practicing walking on a leash and is working on getting used to sounds and new environments. At the same time, she is discovering more and more joy in walks and loves to curiously sniff her surroundings. To continue gaining security, she should go for a walk at least once a day and gradually learn more about the world. Her character is calm, cautious, and full of quiet curiosity. When something catches her interest, she often begins to cautiously sniff it or run small circles around it – these sweet moments immediately put a smile on everyone's face. Boreum loves soft blankets, cozy pillows, and good food. Grooming, however, is not her favorite. She is in very good health. She can live in an apartment or a house and does not need a garden. Whether as a single dog or with another dog – Boreum can adapt well. What is important is a patient family that gives her time to settle in and build trust. Behind her initial shyness lies a loving, curious female dog that is just waiting to finally settle in and become part of her own family.

DE·Show original

About Boreum

What life with Boreum looks like

Boreum is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boreum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boreum?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boreum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boreum if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boreum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boreum isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boreum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
