Adopt Borys

Mixed Breed · Male

Borys came to the animal shelter from Ukraine in a terrible condition: thin, wild, and injured. He survived a multi-hour journey in a small cage, terrified and unsure of his future. He probably never had a home, yet immediately, with great confidence, he endured all the procedures. At the animal shelter he underwent two operations. Today he is a joyful, gentle, and wise dog. Very gentle and friendly towards people. Contact with humans makes him happy and humans are the most important thing for him! He loves being petted and brushed, he is rather a couch potato type. During shelter walks he walks beautifully on a leash and off-leash. Walks with him are a pleasure. Calmly reacts to most dogs. He needs time to build trust with unfamiliar men, but when he meets one, he greets him joyfully. Borys is looking for a home outside the city, in a quiet area, preferably with a garden (with the note that the garden will not replace daily walks). Borys przyjechał do schroniska z Ukrainy w strasznym stanie: chudy, wyleniały, zarobaczony. Dzisiaj to radosny, delikatny i mądry pies. Spacery z nim to sama przyjemność. About Borys

What life with Borys looks like

Borys is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Viva Korabiewice in Korabiewice.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borys, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borys?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Viva Korabiewice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borys on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borys if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Viva Korabiewice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Borys already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borys isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Viva Korabiewice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borys and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
