Bosco

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 3 years

Bosco – ready for the next step Bosco is an approximately two-year-old Malinois-mix, who came to the animal shelter in April 2025 after being found on the street. We know nothing about his past, but what we've seen so far gives us hope: Bosco shows himself to be a friendly, social male dog who enjoys both the company of people and the company of other dogs. Currently, he shares a run with Tristan, another male dog of similar age. The two get along very well, and despite the stressful shelter routine, Bosco appears relatively calm and balanced. This behavior shows that he is ready for the next step: a permanent, real home. As a Malinois mix, Bosco typically has a high learning capacity. While we can't say much about his experiences in everyday life at the moment, it's clear that he will benefit from people who meet him with patience and clarity and who are familiar with the needs of this active, intelligent dog or are willing to familiarize themselves with them. Malinois and their mixes are not dogs for leisure. They need tasks, stimulation, structure. And just as important: peace, security, and a reliable primary caregiver. Bosco has the potential to become a loyal, reliable companion if he is taken seriously, given time to settle in, and seen for what he is: a clever dog with a lot of energy and real development potential. Who will give him this new start? If you are aware of what adopting a shelter dog entails and you've fallen in love with him, please contact the responsible mediator at SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very grateful for the provision of a foster home for Bosco.

About Bosco

What life with Bosco looks like

Bosco is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bosco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bosco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bosco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bosco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bosco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bosco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bosco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
