Adopt Rudolf

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 5 years

Gender: Male Age: Born ca. 01.02.2021 Breed: Podenco Malinois mixed breed Rudolf shows himself here as a lively friendly puppy who also gets along well with his doggy colleagues. Rudolf was, like many of his fellow animals, given up at the Perrera in Almeria/Spain. Where he came from is not known. It is likely that he was one of the many unwanted puppies for which no one took responsibility. We asked our animal protection friend Marcos to pick him up from the Perrera and bring him to his dog pension. Rudolf shows himself here as a lively friendly puppy who also gets along well with his doggy colleagues. Rudolf is an active dog who needs mental stimulation with the necessary physical and also mental exertion. He is certainly also good for dog sports to be enthusiastic about. The young male dog will definitely love to attend the dog training classes with you and learn the dog ABC. We are looking for loving people for Rudolf who know that the arrival of a puppy means a lot of fun, work, and responsibility. Do you want to show Rudolf the world and teach him everything a faithful companion needs to know? Then contact us. We thank Mrs. Gabriela S. for taking over the rescue sponsorship. You can adopt Rudolf directly or take him in as a foster dog first. As a foster home, you would have the opportunity to see if he fits into your family and you could then decide whether you want to keep him. This opportunity is only available if you live in the Greater Bad Vilbel, Frankfurt, or Aschaffenburg area. If interested, contact us, Rudolf could soon travel to Germany to his new home. Oscar is not only friendly to people but also to other dogs. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Rudolf

What life with Rudolf looks like

Rudolf is a large adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudolf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudolf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudolf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudolf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudolf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudolf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudolf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
