Botter

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

During our project tour, which we undertook with a small group of our team in late October 2021, we visited all our partners. Among them was the Canile Arzachena, where we hoped to see some "old acquaintances," but there were also some new arrivals that wanted to be introduced. One of these new arrivals, who had been found homeless just before our visit and brought to the Canile, was the male dog Botter. We do not know his backstory; we do not know whether he had been homeless for a long time or whether he had experienced something bad. It is likely that the handsome male dog once belonged to a hunter and was "decommissioned" during the ongoing hunting season because he may not have met the hunting requirements. Botter was very reserved with us. He always kept a safe distance, and he did not come close for petting—quite the opposite of his cage buddy Pink. Botter lives together with the male dog Pink, who also arrived at the Canile at the same time, and the two get along very well. Unfortunately, the Canile staff have too little time to take care of the dogs intensively or train them to overcome their fear. That is why we would like to take Botter to Germany as soon as possible so that he can find his forever home with loving people who can provide him with the security he needs to relax and build trust. Botter will not be rehomed into a hunting environment. 31 March 2023: During our project trip at the end of March 2023, we also got to know Pink and Botter. Botter shows himself as an absolutely curious but initially somewhat shy puppy. After a short settling-in phase, however, he also let us pet him. He has a truly lovely nature, and we cannot understand why he still has to wait for his chance. A team colleague and her daughter spent part of their vacation time to personally get to know or see some of the shelter dogs. During this, they also met the handsome male dog Botter. Botter still likes to observe from a safe distance but shows a great interest. For his future life, he wishes dog-experienced people who can stand by him with time, patience, and empathy and let him come to terms with things at his own pace. Botter has so much potential and is waiting only to finally experience the security and safety of a loving home. Would you give Botter a home where he can be happy? Would you like to take Botter into your family? We look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

Möchten Sie Botter in Ihre Familie aufnehmen? Dann freuen wir uns auf Ihre Nachricht. Wir vermitteln bundesweit.Ihr Ansprechpartner für diese

About Botter

What life with Botter looks like

Botter is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Botter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Botter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Botter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Botter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Botter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Botter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Botter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
