Rocky

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Adult · 8 years

Rocky is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is a friendly bean who could live with older secondary school children who can let him approach at his own pace, who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Rocky likes all of the attention to himself, so is looking to be the only pet in the home, he would be happy with polite and friendly walking buddies though. Rocky is a clever guy and already has a little training under his belt, he knows his name and does a lovely “sit” and “paw”, he is eager to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. Rocky can settle nicely in the home, so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Rocky is currently undergoing treatment so will be going home on a foster to adopt basis, he will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Super sweet and soppy boy Rocky is an 8 year old Cocker Spaniel who loves nothing more than a good sniff and explore on his walks. He likes most toys but the tennis ball is his favourite, he will happily play a game of fetch all day, if you let him. He enjoys a fuss, he will sit at your feet with a waggy tail waiting for that neck scratch, when you give him snuggles he gets all excited and wiggly. He likes an afternoon snooze and is not fussy on where he sleeps, the sofa the bed, anywhere he fancies really. This top guy is ready to find his new home.

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
