Briar

Poodle · Female · Adult · 4 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs ongoing support Can I be left alone? Yes Briar has shown herself to be settled when left for an 8 hour working day. Although she can manage this, in a new home it will need to be built up, rather than done straight away. Do I have any medical conditions? Existing conditions Briar has current medical conditions, namely dermaitis, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome them and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - If secured and separate Additional information Briar does enjoy meeting other dogs and is polite towards them. If another dog has had enough or is not interested then she is happy to wander on and do her own thing. We feel she would love to have some calm walking buddies of a similar size to her, who would be up for a play as well. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Briar would need a calm home with infrequent visitors due to her being a slightly nervous girl. She finds busy locations or lots of people to be a bit stressful. Due to this any children in the home would need to be aged 11 plus. Briar has shown a wonderful warmth to her regular handlers. Once you are in her circle she will look to you for regular fuss in the form of chest rubs. What type of environment would suit me? Briar does not need her own private garden. She previously lived in an apartment and could do again, provided she has access to frequent walks. About Briar Briar is a sweet, sensitive girl who is looking for patient, understanding owners to help her build her confidence. She loves her people and is always happy to jump onto your lap for some fuss and gentle chest rubs. Briar enjoys playing with soft, squeaky toys and going on quiet adventures with her humans. She also likes meeting calm, playful dogs along the way. With time, patience and plenty of reassurance, Briar will make a loving and devoted companion. She’s looking for a home where she can feel safe, secure and truly blossom.

About Briar

What life with Briar looks like

Briar is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Briar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Briar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Briar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Briar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Briar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Briar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Briar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
