Luna

Poodle · Female · Young · 3 years

Beautiful Luna can be shy at first and the best way to get to know her is either join her on a walk or get a ball ready and have a game of fetch. Luna loves to play with toys, and her favourite is a ball. Once she is well bonded, she is very affectionate and adores a snuggle, and to cosy up with you on the sofa. A quiet home life would be ideal, and we can guide and advise you with ‘a visitors to the home’ training plan. She loves her walks on the beach, she likes to play in water, she has good recall and is social with other dogs. Luna would benefit from learning new tricks to help boost her confidence. She loves treats and treats help her to feel more confident when making friends with people. Luna is a three-year-old Poodle cross looking for a loving home. She will need a home with experienced adult adopters with patience and understanding. Luna is looking to be the only dog in the home and out and about would enjoy having doggy pals to socialise with. She has no history of living with cats, small furries or livestock. She is worried of new visitors to the home and would benefit from a quieter home life with routine and predictability to help her feel secure. Luna is housetrained, she travels well in the car, and she adores company and will need the time she is left alone at home built up gradually. Luna will require her adopters to come and meet her at least a couple of times prior to adoption.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a small young adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
