Adopt Brina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Brina is an unfathomably beautiful Groenendael mix lady who is setting out to improve the adoption rate of black, large dogs. Brina was discovered by police in one of the many public parks of Linares in January 2024. The friendly one-year-old female dog approached passersby with a friendly demeanor and asked for help. The called-in dog catchers had no trouble securing the lovable girl. Perhaps it was because of Brina’s charming nature that the state animal catchers did not take her to the Perrera but instead asked the ArcoNatura shelter to take Brina into their care. Although our friends’ animal shelter is in dire condition and is expecting a flood of hunting dogs in just a few days, the black beauty found a home there and is now waiting for German Shepherd enthusiasts who will give her a new wonderful home. Brina is as mentioned a Groenendael (perhaps not entirely purebred, but certainly to a great extent) – and for all our readers who are now wondering what a Groenendael is: one refers to this black and long-haired sub-variety of the Belgian Shepherd, which is much more commonly found in Germany by the Malinois, which in turn often complements or even replaces the German Shepherd in many areas as a working dog. Brina has been in the hands of the animal welfare workers at ArcoNatura for several weeks now, and she shows herself at the shelter as extremely friendly, affectionate, and composed. She has no problem with the other dogs, calmly asserts her interests without being dominant or submissive. Majestically, and for her pubertal age already very balanced, she moves in the large pack. In her dealings with humans, Brina reveals an attached and affectionate nature that enjoys every bit of affection and can never get enough of hearing that she is a fantastic girl. Brina needs an active home that can match her athletic nature. The extremely elegant, sporty, and still young lady needs exercise and mental stimulation for her clever head. Dog sports, intelligence games, obedience training, and similar activities are certainly a great mental stimulation for clever German Shepherds like Brina alongside the simple running, jumping, playing, and playing catch with a frisbee, which our princess loves just as much. Of course, there must also be plenty of cuddling and loving time. A spot on the couch between the world’s most beloved two-legged beings during a cozy movie night would not be refused by our snuggly sweetheart. Brina wants to trade her life behind bars as quickly as possible for a life in a real home, she longs for a cozy bed and a ball that belongs only to her… who can make the dreams of the extraordinary Andalusian a reality?

About Brina

What life with Brina looks like

Brina is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
