Broki

German Shepherd · Male · Young · 3 years

Broki is a young dog of German Shepherd type. Brokat is a cheerful, highly energetic dog. He’s always on the go and rarely stays still. He loves digging holes, playing, and running around. He has a very big appetite, eagerly collaborates with people for treats, and enjoys learning new things. Once he gets to know someone, he values physical contact and cuddling. Broki is a sensitive dog with a challenging past, which is why he used to react strongly to many things—other dogs, strollers, road construction machinery, evening walks, and encounters with unfamiliar people were all very difficult for him. In such situations, he would either run away or try to ward off the stressors he encountered. Today, he’s much more confident, though he remains a highly sensitive dog. He shouldn’t live with children. He needs plenty of support from his guardian and is looking for someone who will take good care of his well-being and won’t have overly high expectations of him. Broki should live in a quiet area—free from heavy street traffic, which causes him stress—and close to green spaces. Broki goes for walks on a long leash, during which he can happily spin his signature circles at full speed. He feels completely at ease indoors and knows exactly what the couch is for. He’d adapt more easily to a home with a garden, but he’d probably do just fine living in an apartment building as well. He’s looking for a home where he can be a full-fledged member of the family and needs close human companionship. Ideally, there wouldn’t be many household members in the family, and the daily routine would be as consistent as possible—he really needs stability and predictability. Broki isn’t comfortable interacting with other dogs and tends to avoid them. There’s noticeable improvement in this area; he’s now able to pass other dogs peacefully during walks. Perhaps over time he’ll feel more confident in closer interactions with other stable dogs, but for now, he’s looking for a home as the only dog in the family. It’s possible that Broki could live with an animal of a different species—as he usually passes other animals calmly during walks. We’re looking for a home for Broki: – located outside the city center, with nearby green spaces, – without children, – open to working with the dog, ideally under the guidance of a behaviorist or trainer, – with a small number of household members and a predictable daily routine.

Broki to młody pies w typie owczarka niemieckiego. Brokat jest pogodnym, bardzo dynamicznym psem. Wszędzie go pełno, rzadko się zatrzymuje.

About Broki

What life with Broki looks like

Broki is a large young adult german shepherd dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Broki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Broki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Broki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Broki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Broki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Broki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Broki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
