Adopt Kenia

German Shepherd · Female · Senior · 12 years

Beautiful sheepdog in a dignified age politely asks for a home, hoping to experience a good life with a person. You look at Kenia and see how much joy she has, the desire to play, the longing for contact. You look at her record. Then again - no, the ID does not match the picture. Indeed, you can see from her movements that the agility of a teenager is long behind her, the gray hairs on her muzzle reveal what she tries to hide with her temperament, that she wants more than she can. But you look at Kenia again and again see only that spark in her eye and absolute belief that she can still go wild on the meadows. And she does - in her own way, as much as her legs allow. You see that when you offer her an adventure, she will not refuse - she packs herself into the car, it's hard to pull her out! She loves trips, full of culture on the road. New things amaze and interest her, she really likes to explore, to sniff the world, whether city or forest, curious about everything and very brave. She walks well on a leash, sometimes she doesn't quite get it, but it's more from excitement, it's easy to help calm her emotions. She is funny and sweet in her efforts as an older lady. With people she is polite, neutral and friendly, there is no aggression in her. And when you earn her favor with food and nice walks, there is a chance for caresses and hugs - but you have to earn it. Will she get along with other dogs? I don't know, you have to try - she lives alone in the animal shelter, she lived with a large male dog at home. On walks she sometimes pulls, sometimes pretends to have a problem - without meeting the resident, I can't say how she will cope. It's worth trying anyway. Kenia is politely asking for a kind eye and hopes that someone's heart will beat faster at the sight of a cheerful older lady. We really don't want her to spend the autumn and winter in a concrete box. Let her autumn of life be colorful and sunny. With her person, on a patch of grass, in warmth. These are not big demands. Will you give her a chance? Ewelina, the volunteer, will tell you more about Kenia - let her phone ring - we very much ask you! 694766205 If you want to help this dog, but can't adopt him - we invite you to walks! polski English Deutsch Piękna owczareczka w dostojnym wieku bardzo grzecznie prosi o dom, by jeszcze jej się udało zaznać dobrego życia przy człowieku. Niech jej jesień życia będzie kolorowa i słoneczna. About Kenia

What life with Kenia looks like

Kenia is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kenia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
