Bruno

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 3 years

25-05-26 Bruno is a truly special boy who originally came to us from a breeder in October 2024, he spent a few months in a foster home before being adopted, but sadly after almost a year in his home he has been returned to our care as he was struggling to pick up toilet training, although he had been doing really well with this in his foster home. Bruno was a very worried boy when he first arrived with us and although he is still quite shy and reserved, he has grown so much in confidence over the last few years. He's a sweet natured, gentle soul who loves a gentle fuss and is beginning to enjoy life to the full. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to cuddle up with them, so he will be looking for a home where there was another calm and friendly dog to be his friend and cuddle companion. Boisterous dogs would likely overwhelm him, as he’s a soft and gentle boy. He would benefit from adopters with experience of rescue dogs and he could be homed with kind and gentle dog savvy older children. We think that he will thrive in a home with gentle guidance, patience, and lots of love. Bruno had settled into home life beautifully, although we are told he did struggle to pick up toilet training and would still have accidents in the home, so he will need kind and understanding adopters who will be patient with him as he settles in and learns all about house training. It's possible he may never be fully clean in the home, so this is something his adopters will need to be aware of. In his foster home he slept well through the night and could be left for short periods. Bruno absolutely adores his food, he takes treats gently, eats with gusto, and has even learned that the kitchen is the place to be when someone’s cooking! He loves his walks and likes to go for gentle 15 minute strolls around the block as well as longer walks. Bruno is affectionate and once he gets to know you he enjoys a fuss and cuddle. He has so much to give, he just needs someone to give him a chance and not give up on him. When Bruno originally arrived with us he had two surgeries to repair his cherry eye, and while this has left his eyes a little different in appearance, it doesn’t bother him at all. He also had sore skin, which is now much better and an undershot jaw, which doesn't cause him any issues. Since coming back to us, our vets noted he has a slightly wobbly gait so he was referred for x-rays which have shown changes consistent with hip dysplasia. At present this is not causing him any pain or affecting his day to day life, but his adopters should monitor for any signs of discomfort or lameness as he gets older. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
