Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht)

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 4 years

Bruno was handed over to us in April 2024 due to a biting incident at the advice of the authorities. At first, when we didn't know him and couldn't assess him accordingly, we had quite a few problems with him. Situations that the young pup was overwhelmed by, especially when he felt restricted against his will, he tried to solve by going very forward. Nowadays, he has developed into a clear communicator, a very relaxed and sovereign companion, and hardly anything upsets him anymore. He needs careful, decisive, and consistent people by his side who give him the necessary security and can gently put him in his place when needed. Then he knows that he doesn't need to worry and will be the friendly and relaxed companion with good obedience, who enjoys exploring his environment and also enjoys cuddle sessions very much. Doggy encounters are usually no problem, sometimes intact male dogs still overwhelm him. Due to his background and the breed-specific requirements in NRW, he also wears a muzzle—also absolutely relaxed and sovereign. For Bruno has quickly found out that even with a muzzle, the next horse manure heap can still be robbed or a treat can be snatched. Bruno has already learned a lot during his time with us and brings the best prerequisites to be a loyal companion. He is looking for consistent as well as sensitive and patient people. Rottweiler enthusiasts are particularly sought after who are not blinded by his beautiful appearance and can also handle the imposing fellow. Until we find a suitable forever home for Bruno, he is happy with sponsors. Sponsorship is not bound by any term or fixed amount. Further details can be found on this page under "Sponsorships".

About Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht)

What life with Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) looks like

Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) is a large adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierheim Köln in Cologne.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Must wear muzzle due to previous bite incident and breed restrictions in NRW. Requires experienced Rottweiler handlers.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno (Zuhause und Paten gesucht) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
