Cairo, a beautiful and affectionate Podenco puppy, was found abandoned with his siblings on July 9, 2026. Despite being raised by kind people who bottle-fed them, Cairo struggled to find a forever home due to the challenges of living in Tenerife as a Podenco. He eventually ended up at an animal shelter after a year, where he wasn't thriving. Cairo is now ready for adoption and is looking for his forever home.

Asiel Tenerife: Update 15 juli 2026: Hier nog een paar foto’s en filmpjes van Cairo in de groep buiten. Zijn maatjes van het hondenpension. We gaan binnenkort nog wat leuke filmpjes maken van zijn wandelingen buiten op straat want we zijn heel trots hoe ons "klein" dapper ventje met de dag groeit, letterlijk en figuurlijk! 13 nieuwe foto's en nieuwe video's toegevoegd. Input 9 juli 2026: Cairo werd met zijn broertjes gevonden. Ze werden zonder pardon gedumpt maar door hele lieve mensen met de fles groot gebracht. Cairo is opgegroeit in de opvang maar bleef daar maar onzichtbaar. Een podenco, pup, en zeker hier op Tenerife, is niet makkelijk te "plaatsen", want je moet oppassen dat er geen jagers komen en helaas wordt de podenco hier nog niet altijd als een maatje of hond in huis gezien. Heel erg jammer natuurlijk, voor zowel mens als podenco! Cairo kon na een jaar niet langer bij zijn opvang blijven en kwam zo in het asiel terecht.Dit was duidelijk niet de plek voor dit gevoelige en vrolijke mannetje. Hij was de weg kwijt en kwijnde weg, letterlijk en figuurlijk, verdrietig, angstig, hij begreep er niks van.Daarom kwam hij in de spoed opvang en nu, na 2 maanden, is hij (weer) klaar voor adoptie, voor zijn definitieve gouden mand!Cairo is een prachtige verschijning maar heeft ook een heerlijk karakter. Hij is altijd vrolijk en enthousiast als hij je ziet en goed mensgericht. Cairo heeft geen trauma's en is het leven bij een eigen mens en in huis al zo goed gewend dat hij gewoon niet anders meer zou kunnen of willen. De routine, de liefde, de veiligheid... dat maakt hem blij en zelfverzekerder. Een maatje in huis is geen "moeten" maar zou hij zeker wel geweldig vinden. Het uitje naar het hondenpark is voor hem het hoogtepunt van de dag en hij kan het goed met alles en iedereen vinden, groot en klein, oud of jong. Hij daagt iedereen uit voor een spelletje en vindt het geweldig als iemand mee doet en met hem rond gaat rennen.Hij behandelt honden die geen zin hebben ook met respect en weet goed waar de grenzen liggen. Als "puber" vindt hij het leuk om alles te ontdekken, besnuffelen, verzamelen... en hij leert graag en snel. Hij heeft ook met een kat in huis geleefd en dat ging ook prima en respectvol ondanks zijn jonge leeftijd.Cairo is helemaal klaar voor zijn eigen mens, eentje die hij voor altijd trouw mag zijn en met wie hij zijn besmettelijke vrolijkheid kan gaan delen voor de rest van zijn mooie leventje! Diegene die hem die kans geeft krijgt er zonder twijfel een heel trouw en gezellig maatje voor het leven bij.
