adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Capper can stay forever! His story: In the shelter in Bistrita, Capper is waiting to finally be seen. The friendly male dog, who at about 40 cm is a nice medium size, is a true treasure because he is super friendly and gets along well with his fellow animals. He will still grow a bit, but will generally stay a medium size. He is socially compatible and could therefore fit well with an already existing dog. His behavior towards cats is unknown. Unfortunately, we know nothing about his past. One thing is clear, however: Life in the shelter is not for the little whirlwind, and he wants to get out before he loses faith in people. At six months old, the little man is right at the threshold from puppy to puberty. It's high time to take him by the paw and accompany him. Capper is looking for you if you want to show him the world patiently and lovingly. He needs a family that is ready to give him time and security so that he can build trust and learn necessary things like house training, leash manners, and life in a household. It will be an exciting journey on which you can accompany Capper step by step! Especially the time of puberty can be a challenge. When the head feels full of colorful Play-Doh instead of a brain, young four-legged pubescents, like us humans, suddenly suffer from memory loss, and every blade of grass is more exciting than a recall or "sit" and "down." But it's only a phase, and you, like many other human/dog teams, will certainly master it with lots of love, consistency, and above all, humor. Due to his short testicles, the entry of Capper into Switzerland is unfortunately prohibited. We are therefore looking for a home in Germany or another country where this regulation does not apply. Capper will travel microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his family. He also has his EU pet passport in his luggage. Whether he will also be neutered depends on how old he will be at the time of adoption. After a positive But also a foster home would be a good option. Would you like to give Capper a warm dog bed and the love he so deserves? Thank you, Christine, for giving Capper a name and thus an identity. As of: 18.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 18.10.2025

About Capper

What life with Capper looks like

Capper is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Capper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Capper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Capper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Capper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Capper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Capper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Capper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
