Carol

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Meet Carol ❤️ Carol is a young Jack Russell with a heart full of love and a zest for life. The nervous, frightened little girl who first arrived with us has come such a long way, and we’re incredibly proud of the confident, happy dog she’s becoming. She now walks beautifully on the lead and is growing in confidence every day. Like many dogs who have had a difficult start, she can still have the occasional moment where something startles her and she briefly reverts to her old worries. The lovely thing about Carol is how quickly she recovers—she bounces back in no time and is ready to carry on enjoying life. Carol absolutely adores other dogs and currently lives with her nine-month-old son, Billy. They have a wonderful bond and could be rehomed together, but we also feel Carol has gained enough confidence to thrive either as an only dog or alongside another friendly canine companion. She’s full of fun, full of character, and always ready to make you smile. She’s also making great progress with travelling in the car. While she can still become a little worried and sometimes curls up in the footwell for reassurance, she’s improving with every journey. Carol could happily live with sensible children aged 8 years and over. She’s looking for a patient, loving family who will continue to build her confidence and enjoy watching this wonderful little girl blossom even further. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving companion, Carol could be the perfect addition to your family.

About Carol

What life with Carol looks like

Carol is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Carol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
