Chałka

Female · Adult · 5 years

Chałka is a 5-year-old female dog weighing around 10 kg. She is a larger version of a dachshund and is very affectionate. Chałka is sensitive and needs time to trust new people. She may be shy at first, but she will warm up to people with patience. She enjoys being close to her owner, allowing herself to be held and snuggling up to people she trusts. She can walk on a leash, although she still needs support and calm guidance during walks. She would thrive with a patient owner who can help her gain confidence. Chałka could live with a calm and stable dog that would support her and help her adjust to her new home. We are looking for a home without young children or with children over 12 years old, who will respect her sensitive nature and allow her to open up at her own pace. The description is based on observations of the dog in the shelter. Chałka is under the care of OTOZ Animals Shelter in Tczew. Her shelter ID number is 102/26. The dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and spayed. Contact for adoption: 58 531 96 56

Chałka szuka spokojnego i kochającego domu! Chałka to około 5-letnia suczka, ważąca około 10 kg. Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 58 531 96 56

About Chałka

What life with Chałka looks like

Chałka is a small adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chałka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chałka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chałka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chałka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chałka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chałka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chałka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
