Zoja

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Adopted virtually by: Jolanta and Henryk Mendrala, Zoja was taken in emergency from a property where over 20 dogs were residing. She is a medium-sized beautiful female dog who has socialization deficits due to her previous life, shows fearful behaviors towards new people and unfamiliar spaces. She is a sensitive dog seeking contact and support from staff and volunteers. Zoja can walk on a leash, but when walking an unfamiliar route she panics and desperately tries to return to the animal shelter, which is her only safe place in life :( The female dog needs a loving and patient caregiver willing to work on her fears. She gets along well with other dogs, so the company of a stable dog in the new home is very welcome :) Contact, TOZ Krotoszyn - 660 662 191, 660 662 171 (we prefer phone contact on the given numbers, Monday to Friday during hours) Zoja was taken in emergency from a property where over 20 dogs were residing. About Zoja

What life with Zoja looks like

Zoja is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
