Charley

Greyhound Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 6 years

Charley is a sweet lad, who deserves to know what life in a loving home is all about. He may need some support as he settles into a home environment and as he learns about spending time alone and how to master his housetraining. He would enjoy gentle walkies with lots of sniffs and lots of love, time and patience to find his paws. Charley is a 7 year old Greyhound who is ready for a life of retirement. This gentle boy has a quiet and timid nature and would do best in a quieter home where he can enjoy all the comforts he deserves. Charley could live with upper primary aged children who can understand when he may be feeling a little overwhelmed and give him the space he may need. Charley has been friendly with other dogs but prefers to keep himself to himself, so whilst he enjoys walking friends he would love a home all of his own. As an ex-racer Charley wears his muzzle out and about on his walkies.

About Charley

What life with Charley looks like

Charley is an adult greyhound dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Charley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
