Charly

Golden Retriever · Male

Charly is a well-established Golden Retriever with a strong personality! Charly is at the shelter following the death of his owner. Therefore, we do not have much information about his past except what we can observe about him. Charly is an energetic senior who enjoys running and jumping in the water. He will not miss his meal time or cuddle time for anything. It is no exaggeration to say that Charly must have been spoiled in his previous home... and he retains some bad habits such as not liking constraints or frustration. Knowing this, and developing the right strategies, everything goes well with him. However, this point must be taken into account and explains why he will not be placed in the presence of children. Charly can coexist without problems with other dogs, once introductions are made, and he accepts the presence of cats. At his age, Charly only wants one thing. A warm home where he can enjoy good times. The presence of his family, small walks and well-filled bowls. Given his age and his minor old dog aches, we will prioritize a home with outdoor access without stairs. Except for his "rusty" paws, Charly is in good shape and does not require any regular treatment. Profile we are looking for: If you are interested in our senior Charly and want to know more, do not hesitate to contact us at 87. Please note, appointments only!

FR·Show original

About Charly

What life with Charly looks like

Charly is a adult golden retriever dog waiting at SPA Le Locle in Le Locle.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Le Locle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Le Locle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Le Locle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
