Chibi

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 11 months

When a little black and white kitten was born in the Emi shelter, he was named Chibi. In Japanese, this means "little," and he was indeed tiny — so small that he fit in the palm of your hand. He grew up in the shelter with his siblings, played, mewed, and learned to trust people from the very first breath. Gradually, everyone else found their homes. Each one had someone who looked just at them and said, "This is my cat." Only Chibi remained waiting. He waited a long time. So long that it started to feel like no one would ever come. Then came his miracle. Chibi finally found a home. When he left in January, it seemed like his real life was finally beginning. His person, his home, his happiness. But this happiness lasted too short. Then one day Chibi was returned. Not because he was a bad cat. Just because he was a kitten — he played too much, explored too boldly, dug up the flowerpots and lived joyfully as a young cat always does. Chibi didn't understand what he did wrong. One day he had a home, the next day he didn't. He came back to the cat shelter, as if there was something wrong with him, even though there wasn't. He had to get used to it again. Find new friends again. Again learn to believe that life could be nice. And he did — he now has new young playmates to run, mew and snuggle with. When you watch him playing with others, you wouldn't believe that a small heart can already be broken once. But now those friends are also leaving for new homes and Chibi is left alone again. This makes him so sad, because he was already left behind last. Already thought he had found his person, and had to come back. The idea that he has to wait alone again while others leave for their homes is simply unfair. Chibi doesn't need pity. He needs a home where they understand that a cat can be a cat. A home where his playfulness isn't seen as a fault. A home from which he will never be sent back again. He has waited so long for someone to choose him. Please don't let him be alone again. If you feel you could be Chibi's real home, please write to the shelter's email address.

Tekkis huvi? Täida ankeet ja paku kodu!

About Chibi

What life with Chibi looks like

Chibi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ in Estonia.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chibi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chibi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chibi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chibi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chibi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chibi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chibi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
