Chivas-2

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Chivas, a handsome Chihuahua, has been a resident of the Kecskemét animal shelter since September 22, 2026. He was found wandering alone and abandoned outside Nagykörös. The origin of Chivas and the reason for his abandonment remain a mystery. It is likely that he was no longer wanted and was abandoned out of cowardice, but we do not know for certain. What we do know is that he had no microchip, and no one had reported Chivas missing, so he had been waiting in vain for his owners. We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will soon be discovered by responsible people and can exchange the shelter for a cozy home of his own. Chivas is a shy and insecure puppy who has had little or no good experiences with humans and has already had to face the darker side of life. In the shelter, he is learning that there are also good people and that he does not need to be afraid. Slowly, Chivas is gaining trust in the animal caretakers and is warming up a little more each day, but the shelter situation is making him uncomfortable, with so many dogs, noise, and chaos. He longs for peace, structure, and guidance. Chivas is still very green behind his ears, and his new owners will need to teach him everything a dog needs to know for his life as a family member, lovingly, patiently, and in good time. He would be happy with mental and physical exercise, adapted to his age and at the right time, when he has settled in. Chivas gets along well with his fellow dogs, and a confident second dog, to whom he can orient himself, could be a great help to him in his new life. We are looking for loving and experienced dog owners who can provide Chivas with enough love, understanding, empathy, time, and patience. Give him security, strengthen his self-confidence, and give him the chance to make his disappointed soul happy and joyful. Chivas will soon realize how wonderful life with loving people can be, and he will open his heart and become a wonderful and loyal companion, he just needs the opportunity to show what he has inside. Who will find Chivas security and family connection? He is currently too young for neutering, which his new owners will need to arrange when he is old enough. The estimated final size is 43-53 cm and the final weight is 12-19 kg. On October 7, 2026, Chivas was 41 cm and 8.4 kg. Chivas can travel from around mid-November 2026 if he has found a home or foster home.

About Chivas-2

What life with Chivas-2 looks like

Chivas-2 is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chivas-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chivas-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chivas-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chivas-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chivas-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chivas-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chivas-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
