Bäry

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Bäry came to us at the animal shelter because his owner had to move to a nursing home. At first, the handsome male dog was somewhat uncertain and reserved. But once he has built trust with his people, he enjoys long cuddles very much. The Appenzeller-mix spent a large part of the year on a mountain pasture. There, he often got his way and did as he pleased. In daily life, it is now evident that Bäry is not used to following rules. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for Bäry to attend dog training classes or individual training. Bäry is a smart male dog and quickly understands what is expected of him. Nevertheless, he repeatedly tries to test and expand his limits. In the past, Bäry clearly showed that he does not like pressure and has already snapped in different situations. Since he also does not particularly like other animals, he wears a muzzle on walks for his own safety. Bäry wishes for a quiet, more rural new home with experienced dog owners who have plenty of time and patience. Bäry does not want to share his home with children, dogs, or other pets. _________________________________________________________________________________ Bäry came to us at the animal shelter in October 2025, as his owner had to move to a care home. The handsome male dog initially needed some time to build trust. However, once the ice is broken, he loves long cuddles and enjoys the company of his trusted people very much.

About Bäry

What life with Bäry looks like

Bäry is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim an der Ron.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bäry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bäry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim an der Ron handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bäry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bäry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim an der Ron will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bäry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bäry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim an der Ron early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bäry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
