Chum

Jack Russell Terrier Β· Male Β· Young Β· 3 years

For Chum, his favourite place is wherever his people are. He loves being involved in everything you're doing and is happiest when he's by your side. Chum forms incredibly strong bonds with the people he loves. With patient owners who are happy to guide him and build his confidence at his own pace, Chum will continue to flourish and show just what a special little dog he really is. He makes his human friends laugh every day with his happy-go-lucky personality. Chum is a very handsome and energetic 3-year-old Jack Russell Terrier. He would be best in an adult only home as he can jump up and mouth when overexcited. He likes to walk with friendly dogs of a similar size and dogs who could help teach him the ropes. He will need low leaving hours initially as he is not used to being home alone, so owners who are able to help him learn to settle on his own would be ideal. A quieter home environment will help Chum settle, as he can find some noises spooky!

About Chum

What life with Chum looks like

Chum is a young adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chum?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chum if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chum isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
