Lexi

Jack Russell Terrier Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 13 years

Lexi would love a home where she can enjoy the quieter pleasures in life, from pottering around and playing with her favourite toys to curling up on the sofa for a cosy afternoon nap. She could live with children and other dogs, making her a lovely addition to a family looking for a sweet older companion. As Lexi has limited teeth, she will need to be fed softer food to keep mealtimes comfortable. Lexi is a 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is proof that you’re never too old to enjoy life’s little pleasures! This lovely older lady has plenty of love to give and would love to find a cosy forever home where she can enjoy all the comforts she deserves. Lexi enjoys a little potter around, loves playing with her toys, and is just as happy snuggling up on the sofa with her foster carer for some well deserved relaxation. Despite being a senior girl, Lexi still enjoys having fun and would love a home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort. Lexi could live with other dogs pending successful meets at the the centre and would live with children. She would not be suitable to live with cats. If you're interested in Lexi please put in a an application and don't forget to "favourite" her!

About Lexi

What life with Lexi looks like

Lexi is a senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lexi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
