Chunk

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Young · 1 year

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs ongoing support Can I be left alone? Potentially, once settled Chunk’s home alone time will need to be started from scratch and built up gradually, to see how she behaves. She has been left previously however this was with other dogs. Do I have any medical conditions? None This pet has a clean bill of health and can be fully insured after rehoming. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - Securely Housed Additional information Chunk is an independent girl and is happy in her own company. She could walk with other dogs who are similar to her, but doesn’t seek it out. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Chunk is an enthusiastic lady who can become bouncy when excited, therefore any children in the home would need to be 8 years +. She really loves her people, so once you’re in her group she will want to be as close to you as possible. What type of environment would suit me? Chunk would love her own garden with a 6ft fence, to be able to run around and let off steam. We feel this is particularly important as she is unsuitable to be let off lead in public. About Chunk This lady is more cheeky and less chunky monkey these days. She was named Chunk due to being a big puppy. She is a sweet girl who’s looking for a spaniel loving home. She has so much energy but is also really affectionate. She previously lived with dogs in the home but had a disagreement over a toy so would love to be the only dog in the home.

About Chunk

What life with Chunk looks like

Chunk is a large young adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chunk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chunk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chunk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chunk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chunk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chunk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chunk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
