Cilla & Dorothy

Mixed Breed Β· Male

πŸ’œ Meet Cilla & Dorothy πŸ’œ D2026-43 & D2026-44 🐾 4-year-old Cocker Spaniels βœ”οΈ Neutered βœ”οΈ Vaccinated βœ”οΈ Microchipped βœ”οΈ Up to date with flea and worm treatment πŸ“ Fostered in Newport Due to their past and the fact they are still learning that the world is a safe place, Cilla and Dorothy are looking for a calm, adult home or one with older, sensible teenage children who understand the importance of giving them space and allowing trust to develop naturally. Cilla and Dorothy (or Dotty, as her foster mum affectionately calls her) came into rescue together after spending the first four years of their lives on a breeding farm. They have never known what it is to simply be loved family pets. Instead, they were used only for breeding and missed out on the socialisation, kindness and experiences that every dog deserves. Despite everything they have been through, these beautiful girls are beginning to discover that life can be different. Cilla is the braver of the two. She's naturally inquisitive, has a constantly wagging tail, and although still cautious, she'll slowly approach for a tasty treat and may even reward your patience with a gentle lick of your hand. Dotty is taking life at her own pace. She prefers to let Cilla do the investigating while she watches from a safe distance. She's not quite ready to fully trust people yet, but with time, patience and a confident canine friend to show her the way, we know her confidence will continue to grow. Neither girl has ventured out into the big wide world on walks yet, as it is still overwhelming for them. They have been wearing harnesses in the garden and are slowly getting used to them, with lead work being introduced gently. Their new family will need to continue this at a pace that allows them to feel safe and secure. Neither Cilla nor Dotty has discovered the joy of toys yet, but we're sure that, in time, they'll learn how much fun being a dog can be. They are both happy living alon

About Cilla & Dorothy

What life with Cilla & Dorothy looks like

Cilla & Dorothy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Friends of Animals Wales in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cilla & Dorothy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cilla & Dorothy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Friends of Animals Wales handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cilla & Dorothy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cilla & Dorothy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Friends of Animals Wales will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cilla & Dorothy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cilla & Dorothy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Friends of Animals Wales early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cilla & Dorothy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
