Adopt Cleo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Cleo is a charming, about four-year-old (as of 10/2021) Bodeguerodame who has been living with a loving foster family in Seville since September 2021. The playful terrier girl was rehomed once before by the animal protection organization "Gala Sevilla" in 2019, but she has now returned to their care because her previous home did not take proper care of her. A dog is not a trophy, and this time it must be a match made in heaven for Cleo - and that's why we would like to help this small animal welfare association find the perfect family for Cleo. The Bodeguero is a fantastic terrier, and I am always surprised that he has not yet gained more fans in Germany. In terms of intelligence and playfulness, willingness to learn and understanding of language, the wonderful tricolor playmobiles can easily compete with the Jack Russell Terrier, but in contrast to their slightly smaller relatives, most representatives of the Spanish breed are much less timid, do not bark much, and are also much more open to visitors. Cleo is a textbook Bodeguero. She currently lives with two other dogs, gets along well with cats, likes children, and prefers to be right in the middle rather than just watching - yet she can still impress with her balanced and stable character. This nice dog lady knows life in the house and all the little things of everyday life that a dog from the animal shelter often has to learn first. Collar, leash, car, being alone for a while, visits to the vet... all of this is no mystery for Cleo. Interestingly, our playmobile is fond of almost all toys, but does not like balls (she is not afraid, but does not really know what to do with the rubber balls) - a funny quirk for a Bodeguero, which are usually real ball junkies. Cleo knows all basic commands, is responsive (but should of course, like any new arrival, be well secured on the leash at first) and can even perform some small tricks - surely she would be happy to work hard with her new owners to continue earning a good treat allowance as a solo entertainer. Our lovable (somewhat stocky around the middle) princess is looking for an active and fun home with sporty and adventurous people, with whom she would also like to cuddle up on the couch after cheerful days. Do you have a dog bed free for this magnificent girl, who even went to the dentist especially for you, to look especially good when she climbs into your arms from the transport van?

About Cleo

What life with Cleo looks like

Cleo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
