Adopt Clifford

Mixed Breed · Male

Many may not remember the movie Clifford, the great red dog, but we can assure you that our Clifford is just like him—big, playful, affectionate, and sociable... Well, he'd just need to be red to be the same dog. Clifford lived in a field with other dogs before coming to the shelter, where there was nothing else apart from them. Due to this, he's not accustomed to crowds, outside noises, or walking on a leash. Fortunately, and thanks to the work of the volunteers, he's slowly losing his fear and is now walking around super well. He's super sociable with people, he loves being surrounded by the volunteers, and he enjoys getting cuddles and treats all the time. As for other dogs, he's also sociable but gets a bit scared of dogs he doesn't know. He's a manageable dog, allowing himself to be treated, bathed, brushed, and put on a leash... He's a very friendly and affectionate dog, but also active and playful. So a family that likes to do some occasional routes and enjoy calm walks would be his ideal family. Don't wait any longer to meet our sweet Clifford.

Escribe a

About Clifford

What life with Clifford looks like

Clifford is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Not used to crowds, outside noises, or leash walking. Needs patient family to help with socialization.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clifford, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clifford?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clifford on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clifford if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clifford already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clifford isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clifford and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
