Cobbler

Poodle · Male · Adult · 4 years

Cobbler is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and care he deserves. He is a sweet boy who finds the world rather overwhelming at times, so could live with secondary school children who will give him time to build a relationship and give him space to rest and relax when needed. Cobbler likes all of the attention to himself so would like to be the only pet in the home, although he could have polite and friendly walking buddies who are not too over the top. Cobbler doesn’t know many tricks yet but does love a tasty treat so could be encouraged to engage in training once he is settled into his new home. He would like a home with a private, secure garden for him to have some quality time pottering about in at his leisure with no worries or distractions. Cobbler can settle alone, so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Cobbler will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home, so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Cute and fluffy Cobbler is a 4 year old Schnauzer cross Poodle with the purest heart. An explore by trade, this little guy loves a good sniffy adventure with his nose to the floor. He’s has recently learned that he likes teddies, he will happily chase after them if thrown for him and will occasionally play by himself, shaking and throwing his teddy around. He takes a little time to get to know new people, but once he knows and trusts you he is a real snuggle bug, getting as close to you as possible while you give him back and neck scratches. This sweet little lad is ready to find his new family.

About Cobbler

What life with Cobbler looks like

Cobbler is a adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cobbler, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cobbler?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cobbler on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cobbler if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cobbler already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cobbler isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cobbler and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
