Conker

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 1 year

Meet Conker – A Sweet Tabby Boy Ready for His Fresh Start 🧡 Conker is a handsome 1-year-old tabby lad who came to RSPCA Bluebell Ridge from a large multi-cat household. Life has thrown a few bumps his way, but this lovely boy is proving he’s tough enough to conker them all! When Conker first arrived, he found cattery life overwhelming. He was very shut down and frightened, preferring to keep himself to himself while he adjusted to his new surroundings. But recently, something wonderful has happened – Conker has had his “light bulb moment”! This young boy has started to realise that people can be pretty great, and he’s now happily soaking up fuss and attention from our staff and volunteers. While he can still be a little cautious at times, we’re seeing more and more of his affectionate, gentle personality every day. We truly believe that once Conker is settled into a calm home environment, his soft, melty side will continue to blossom. Conker is looking for an adult-only home where he can take things at his own pace and build his confidence with patient and understanding adopters. Although he gets on well with other cats, he can be a little too enthusiastic with his affection and doesn’t always understand feline boundaries, which can sometimes be a bit much for his companions! For this reason, we feel Conker would be happiest as the only pet in the home, where he can enjoy being the centre of attention and receive all the love he craves without having to share. If you’re looking for a young cat with a gentle heart who just needs a little time and patience to shine, Conker could be the perfect companion for you. Watching him continue his journey from shy boy to cherished family member will be incredibly rewarding. Don’t let this little Conker remain stuck in his shell – with the right home, we’re sure he’ll conker hearts wherever he goes. Could you be the one to give Conker the loving forever home he deserves? About Conker

What life with Conker looks like

Conker is a large young adult mixed breed cat dog waiting at RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Conker, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Conker?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Conker on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Conker if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Conker already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Conker isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Conker and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
