🐾 Could You Give Peanut the Peaceful Retirement He Deserves? 🐾 Meet Peanut, a handsome older gentleman with a heart full of love and a story of resilience. Peanut arrived at RSPCA Bluebell Ridge with injuries that needed treatment. Sadly, his previous owners were unable to afford the care he required, so he came into our care where he could receive the help he desperately needed. Through it all, Peanut has shown what a special boy he is. Despite feeling unwell when he first arrived, Peanut never let it dampen his sweet nature. He has remained affectionate, gentle and full of character, winning over everyone he meets with his lovely personality. Now fully recovered and ready to start his next chapter, Peanut is searching for a calm, loving retirement home where he can enjoy all the comforts he deserves. He would be happiest as the only pet in the household, soaking up all the attention for himself. Peanut could happily live with sensible older children aged 10 and above who will respect his need for a peaceful environment. After everything he’s been through, Peanut is looking for a family who will cherish him, provide a cosy spot to nap, and give him the love and security he’s been waiting for. Could you be the one to offer this wonderful boy his happy ending? ❀️ Peanut is ready to meet you and start his new life today. About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a large senior mixed breed cat dog waiting at RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
