Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Connor, our beautiful brindle livestock guardian dog mix, is once again looking for a loving home. Currently, he’s staying at a boarding facility, waiting for people who appreciate his special qualities and are ready to offer him the security and stability he truly deserves. The approximately 8.5-year-old male measures about 58–60 cm at the shoulder, making him medium-sized. His shortened tail gives him a unique charm without detracting from his impressive appearance. Connor isn’t a dog for just anyone—and that’s precisely why we’re looking for people who already have experience with livestock guardian dogs or other independent-thinking breeds. Livestock guardian dogs aren’t dogs that obey blindly. Over generations, they’ve been bred to make their own decisions and take responsibility. However, those who choose to live with these special dogs will be rewarded with an exceptionally deep bond. Connor proves to be a very people-oriented and affectionate companion. He enjoys being close to his trusted humans, loves cozy cuddle sessions, and prefers to be fully involved rather than just watching from the sidelines. At the same time, he has a certain independence and doesn’t hesitate to question his human’s decisions now and then. Patience, composure, and respectful handling are essential here. Connor doesn’t want to be controlled—he wants to be guided and convinced. In his previous home, Connor got along effortlessly with female dogs. He also usually displays a friendly and tolerant demeanor when encountering other dogs. Cats, on the other hand, aren’t among his preferred housemates. Connor thoroughly enjoys walks and walks nicely on a leash. He also has no problem traveling by car. In everyday life, he generally remains calm and can relax comfortably by his human’s side just as easily as he enjoys shared activities together. For Connor, we’re looking for a quiet home with experienced owners who see his breed-typical characteristics not as a challenge but as a blessing—a home where they can provide him with security, genuinely seek to understand him, and are prepared to build a true partnership with him. Since Connor is currently once again in the

About Connor

What life with Connor looks like

Connor is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Connor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Connor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Connor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Connor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Connor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Connor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Connor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
