Adopt Cormac

Primary vaccination + Rabies Cormac – a small hero with a big heart is looking for his forever home Sometimes you meet a dog whose story hits you right in the heart. Cormac, about 2.5 years old, weighing 19 kg and standing 45 cm tall, is exactly such a dog. He was found all alone in Bosnia – a young, brave guy who desperately searched for food despite his hip and hind leg deformity. He could hardly walk... and yet, every person he met was shown by his gentle gaze and loving nature how incredibly big his heart is. Seven months ago, Cormac came to a foster home in 58313 Herdecke with a wonderful foster mom who gave him a new life. There he has already been operated on twice – once six months ago, once 3.5 months ago – and now this little fighter is ready for his new life. He learned to walk again, made great progress every day, and shows a courage that deeply touches. Cormac is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered – and above all: He is full of love. He loves dogs, he loves cats, but most of all he loves people. Cuddling? Always! Proximity? Definitely! And treats? Our charm boy certainly says no to that. When walking, Cormac is already quite good. If the routes become too long, he enjoys his break in the pram – relaxed and content. Even climbing stairs works well again these days! For his new home, he has a special wish: A garden would be his little paradise. Ideally on the ground floor so he can move freely and without strain. And if there is a lake or stream nearby for swimming – even better, because his heart opens up in water. Cormac is looking for people who see his big heart, appreciate his story, and show him that love always wins. Anyone who meets him feels immediately: This dog is a gift. Would you like to write the next chapter of Cormac's life? If yes, this special young man will thank you with lifelong affection. Apply for Cormac Become a godparent for Cormac

About Cormac

What life with Cormac looks like

Cormac is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cormac, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cormac?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cormac on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cormac if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cormac already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cormac isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cormac and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
