Adopt Curro

Podenco · Male · Adult · 5 years

Animal shelter Protectora de Animales Y Plantas de Malaga Input 13 October 2025: Curro is a beautiful 5-year-old Podenco who is looking for a special family to give him a chance to start over. We know nothing about his past, but his character makes us believe that life has not been easy for him. Yet, he shows us day after day his incredible ability to overcome challenges and that he is willing to trust with patience and affection. He is a shy dog, especially with new people, but step by step he is making significant progress: he has more interaction with the animal shelter volunteers and enjoys the company of his kennel mates. He gets along well with both male and female dogs and in the cat test, although he seemed a little scared because everything was new to him, he showed no negative reaction. This proves that with the right introductions and guidance, he can live peacefully with them. Curro has small quirks that steal our hearts: he likes to play with stuffed toys, although he prefers to do it alone, without much human interaction, while he enjoys his play. He also enjoys walks in the countryside, where he can relax and explore at his own pace, always alert to what is happening around him. We believe he could live with children, as long as they respect his space and understand that he needs rest and time to build trust. With patience, understanding and stable routines, Curro can become a noble and sensitive companion, a loyal reflection of what makes Podencos so special. Curro deserves a home where he can feel safe, loved and valued. If you give him the chance to be part of your life, we promise you that you will see a wonderful dog blossom - a dog who, although he is initially shy, has so much love to give.

About Curro

What life with Curro looks like

Curro is a small adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Curro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Curro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Curro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Curro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Curro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Curro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Curro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
